Open for 2027 bookings!
Brecon Beacons - Snowdonia - Lake Bala - EVO Triangle
Our 3-day mini tour of Wales has some of the UK’s best driving roads; well surfaced, undulating, fast through the valleys and seriously mountainous in Snowdonia: they are some of the most challenging and enjoyable roads around. Come with us and enjoy great company, wonderful Welsh hospitality, and excellent driving.
Our first tour with OTR Car Tours was to Wales and I can’t recommend them enough. The whole tour was very well put together. Everything from start to finish was an amazing experience. Richard and Kevin really know their stuff! We have 2 tours this year and can’t wait for the next one. Thanks guys.

Day 1, Friday 23rd April 2027
255 miles, 6 .5 hours
We meet for breakfast at Caffeine & Machine near Stratford upon Avon.
After a briefing we head off on our weekend adventure, into south Wales, and to the Brecon Beacons, before looping north towards Snowdonia.
We have a total of 255 miles of B road bliss, including the Black Mountain Pass. The views – including the iconic Craig Goch Dam – increase in their drama as we head into Snowdonia, and to our base hotel for the weekend located on the banks of beautiful Tal-y-llyn Lake, with the dramatic mountains of Cader Idris reflected in its waters.
Evening dinner will be an opportunity to reflect on our brilliant first day together, as we look forward to venturing further north tomorrow.
Day 2, Saturday 24th April 2027
121 miles, 3.5 hours
After breakfast we head into north Wales, over 61 miles of challenging and exciting B roads, and up to Pen-y-Pass at the foot of Mount Snowdon; home to the oldest youth hostel in the world which was used as a training ground for the British Everest expeditions in the 1950s.
We then head into Anglesey, past Beaumaris Castle built by King Edward 1st in the 14th Century, and on to our lunch stop at Penmon Point on the north east coast. With its stunning views of Puffin Island and the Menai Straight, you might be lucky and spot seals, dolphins or porpoises.
Our afternoon drive is over another 60 miles of impressive and rewarding tarmac, which loops us back south via Machno Valley, through the county of Conwy, and Dolgellau sitting 893 metres below Cader Idris.
We arrive back at our lakeside hotel for a refreshing drink, as we look forward to another excellent evening together.
Day 3, Sunday 25th April 2027
48 miles, 1.5 hours
We have a shorter distance to drive this morning, but it encompasses the famous evo Triangle.
Our final Welsh breakfast sets up nicely for our last drive together, and we head north again, via Lake Bala, over some of the very best drivers’ roads in the UK.
The evo Triangle itself is 20 miles of quick straights and long, sweeping, cambered turns. Despite its average speed controls, it twists and dips downhill, slipping behind craggy mounds before rising again – just like a life-sized Scalextric track!
After our final dose of exhilaration, we say our farewells to our new friends and head home, looking forward to the distinct possibility of meeting up again next time!
