Monaco – Col de Turini – Route Napoleon – French & Italian Alps
An 8-day 1,800-mile adventure across the French and Italian Alps to Monaco.
Incredible routes through the most breathtaking Alpine scenery, including the legendary Route Napoléon, and the Col de Turini. Visiting Djion, beautiful Lake Annecy, Piedmont in Italy, Courchevel, and Troyes.
We’ll enjoy a spa hotel in the hills overlooking Monaco for 2 nights, ten minutes from the centre, with opportunities for an optional walk of the Monaco GP circuit and visits to the iconic Casino and the Prince of Monaco’s incredible car collection.

Day 1, Friday 19th June 2026
5.5 hrs, 352 miles
We meet at Folkestone for our morning Eurotunnel crossing to Calais.
We have 352 miles of the excellent French motorway network to take us to the outskirts of Dijon. Our hotel, in the heart of the Burgundy region, was originally built as a fortified Château in 1180, and destroyed and rebuilt several times until its current incarnation in the 16th Century.
We relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities and look forward to our first evening together.
Day 2, Saturday 20th June 2026
3 hrs, 190 miles
After breakfast we head a further 190 miles south, to beautiful Lake Annecy, the third largest lake in France.
Our hotel – located on the banks of this famous blue lake, and just a stone’s throw from the old town – was built in 1820 as the local alms house. It has breath-taking panoramic views over the lake and surrounding mountains.
Due to its canals and river, the town of Annecy is also known as ‘Venice of the Alps’.
We’ll have plenty of time before dinner, to enjoy this spectacular place.
Day 3, Sunday 21st June 2026
6 hrs, 230 miles
Today we’ll be heading west over the French Alps via Bourg-Saint-Maurice (with Mont Blanc visible to our north), into the Italian Alps and Aosta Valley, and then further south to our hotel in Santa Vittoria d’Alba, in Piedmont, 30 miles southeast of Turin.
Our hotel is a former medieval castle with beautiful views of this lush region of Italy.
We can relax and enjoy excellent Italian hospitality and our evening dinner together.
Day 4 & 5, Monday 22nd - Tuesday 23rd June 2026
4.5 hrs, 142 miles
Today after a lovely breakfast we venture into our third country in three days.
Monaco doesn’t need much introduction, and we reach this exciting destination via the legendary Col de Turini. At 1,607 metres this pass is a regular stage of the Monte Carlo Rally, and it is considered by many to be the most dangerous and challenging part of this world-famous motorsport spectacle, held each year in January.
Our hotel is located in the Côte d’Azur hilltops, between Nice and Monaco, and has unique views of the Mediterranean Sea and French Riviera.
From our luxurious base here we can look forward to enjoying the next two nights, taking full advantage of the hotel’s extensive facilities, as well as venturing into the city; perhaps walking the route of the Monaco GP circuit, and optional visits to the iconic Casino de Monte-Carlo, and the Prince of Monaco’s Car Collection.
Day 6, Wednesday 24th June 2026
6.5 hrs, 294 miles
We bid farewell to Monaco and head 294 miles back north into the French Alps and to our hotel in Courchevel.
We look forward to tackling one of the greatest – and longest – driving roads in the world: the entire 200 mile length of the famous Route Napoléon, from Cannes to Grenoble. With cambered corners the road is well designed and is faster than many of the mountain passes. Henry Catchpole of evo magazine said ‘The Route Napoléon is a road you need to drive twice. Once to enjoy the scenery and once to enjoy the road itself.’
And after such an exciting day on this incredible route, we can relax at our lovely hotel.
Day 7, Thursday 25th June 2026
5 hrs, 359 miles
We head another 359 miles north to Troyes, situated on the River Seine, and capital of the Champagne region. Troyes is a beautiful city, with many half-timbered 16th Century buildings within its old town, which we can enjoy exploring before celebrating an outstanding tour with our new friends, over dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 8, Friday 26th June 2026
4 hrs, 250 miles
Our final breakfast sets us up for our journey back to our Eurotunnel crossing at Calais. But first we stop at Circuit de Reims-Gaux, the former French Grand Prix track, to soak up the atmosphere of its former glories, and for some obligatory photos and drive-by videos.
We head back to Calais, over some of the best motorways in Europe, for our return on the Eurotunnel to Folkestone, arriving in the evening.
The end of another outstanding OTR Alps tour! With our heads crammed full of shared memories to last a lifetime, we’ll look forward to doing it all again next year!
